Hygiene

Personal hygiene has an immediate and lasting impact, and is a strong component of first impressions.  Here are some key points to address to make sure you adhere to demonstrating the signs of good hygiene.

-Make sure you thoroughly shower before your interview if possible.
-Wear a good fragrant deodorant, especially if you will be outside in the heat for any sort of time.
Any hint of body odor can result in a brief interview with an unsuccessful job seeking prospect.  Avoid wasting time by not making this simple mistake.

Grooming

You will need to spend sometime prior to the interview to groom yourself and prepare for the interview.

-Touch up your hair and make up.  A little bit goes a long way, and should never be over complicated.
-Wear a good fragrant deodorant, especially if you will be outside in the heat for any sort of time.  It's always best just to make wearing deodorant part of your daily hygienic routine.
Any hint of body odor can result in a brief interview with an unsuccessful job seeking prospect.  Avoid wasting time by not making this simple mistake.
-Trim and or clean shaven
-Trim your fingernails and clean any dirt
-Check your teeth and breath.  Don't forget to brush your teeth before your interview, and using mouthwash helps ensure you avoid any unpleasant conversations with your interviewer.

Making a positive first impression is key to maintaining an attractive outlook and to remain in a state of consideration from your prospective employer, and potential future coworkers.

Attire

Dress for success.  Dress for the position you are trying to achieve.  It's better to err on the side of over-dressing.  Wear a suit or a nice dress to your interview. Be sure your clothes are well-maintained, with no stains, holes, or anything unsightly.

Daniela Pimentel

My name is Daniela Pimentel, I’m 22 years old. I was born in Indio on January 10th, 2000. I attended Indio high school where I participated in swim, waterpolo, choir, and AVID. Being a part of all extracurricular activities allowed me to be a part of a team and a community where I learned to work collaboratively, taught me leadership skills, made friendships and found my passions along the way. I work part time while attending College of the Desert, where I am working towards receiving my culinary Arts Associates Degree. On my free time I love to cook, swim, and hang out with friends and family. I started mentoring for The Butterfly Mission as of last year where I create a safe space for teenagers as I guide them in their young adult life.
